Movement for Urbanization (MFU)
is an autonomous research and Development Consultancy (Non Profit) Organization. MFU was set up by a team of experienced and eminent professionals in the year 1995 with a capability to provide a wide range of research (both social and scientific) and consultancy services in the field of Community Development, Public Opinion, Perception Research, Project, and Programme Evaluations and Market Research Services. MFU has seven wings- Evaluation, Research & Documentation Unit, Corporate Social Responsibility implementation Unit, Micro Enterprise Training Unit, Rehabilitation & Resettlement Unit, Public opinion Research Unit and Field Unit & Data Entry & Analysis Unit. MFU works with a team of experienced and eminent professionals with the capabilities to provide a wide range of research and consultancy services. In addition to its own professionals, the organization has a team of consultants who are engaged on a project basis as per the requirement. The strength of the Centre is the experience of its professionals that ranges between 25 to 67 years.

MFU has laid substantial emphasis on need for conducting research, participatory monitoring, evaluations, and institutional assessments etc. of development initiatives by NGOs. These exercises facilitate in assessing the results achieved, process of development undertaken, utilization of resources and the levels of capacity with a view to draw learning’s and enhance efficiency and effectiveness. MFU professionals have extensively conducted the exercises for international agencies, national level, intermediary level and grassroots NGOs.
MFU specializes in conducting Participatory Need Assessments by eliciting perceptions and opinions from various stakeholders including the target group. This exercise facilitates in identification of actual needs of the community / target group and also those spheres of their lives where support of an external agency is required to make a holistic and realistic intervention. MFU believes that for holistic understanding of an issue or an area, both qualitative and quantitative data are required. The study on any issue is strengthened when both qualitative and quantitative information are used in conjunction with one another.
Simultaneously along with the participants the evaluation team works out realistic and feasible corrective strategies for inducing necessary changes and improvements in the development programme. The development issues on which evaluations have been conducted are, Empowerment of Women, Micro credit and Micro enterprise development, formal and non-formal education, child rights, good governance, rural development, etc. MFU provides valuable insights to the corporate sectors on different aspects for the development of the society and for the development of the corporate organizations. MFU professionals are well experienced in conducting training for the development &capacity building of individuals and organizations.
